Reducing Stress With Nature

Nature can help to reduce stress and bring peace in your life in many different ways. Many Pagan religions, as well as many Eastern religions, worship nature or have a high-level of respect for nature. The Native Americans also had high respect for nature--so much so that they would say prays for animals they were hunting.

It wouldn't be a bad idea for all of us to have a little more respect for nature. For one, it is responsible for the most basic human need: life! Plants like trees convert our Carbon dioxide into Oxygen that we can breath. Vegetables and fruits can be eaten and provide some of the most valuable nutrients for our bodies. And animals can be useful for friends, food, or even coworkers (if you live on a farm). However, there are many ways in which nature can also help to manage stress levels.

How to manage your stress with nature

Take A Walk-- Most of us probably live in a major city of some kind. And for those of you who live in an area next to a forest or perhaps next to a mountain, this is something you've probably already thought about. However, if you're one of those unlucky people like me who live in a city, it's hard to find places with a lot of trees and nature. When I want to take a walk, however, there is a park right down the street from me. Or, sometimes, I go to one of the nearby colleges that usually have a lot of beautiful greenery and just take some time to relax and maybe read a book.

Plant A Garden-- Gardening can be very therapeutic and can actually be rather exciting. You can plant anything from flowers to vegetables, depending on what you want to use the garden for. It doesn't take a lot of time out of your day to take care of them, and it's a rather inexpensive way to deal with stress.

Bring Nature Inside-- You can also help to reduce stress by surrounding yourself with nature. Getting a small houseplant or a small indoor gardens can help to bring in more fresh air and can help your surroundings to be more comfortable and charming.

Get A Pet-- There are many different kinds of pets you can get, and they can be a lot joy. I've personally had everything from dogs and cats to ferrets, rats, turtles, and fishes. Cats and dogs are really easy to take care of and can bring a lot of comfort, company, and stress relief. Fish aren't very good conversationalists, but they are nice to look at and are very easy to manage. And there are many other choices for pets as well.

Appreciate the Weather-- There is nothing I love more than rain. However, I can also appreciate a nice warm today, a cool breeze, or frost (because we don't really get snow here). It's really easy to just take a few minutes out of your day to appreciate the weather.
